Alma Mater
On the city's western border,
Reared against the sky.
Proudly stands our Alma Mater,
As the years roll by.
Forward ever be thy watchword,
Conquer and prevail.
Hail to thee, O Alma Mater!
Mercer, Hail, all hail.
Cherished by thy sons and daughters,
Mem'ries sweet shall throng,
Round our heart, O Alma Mater,
As we sing our song.
Forward ever be thy watchword,
Conquer and prevail.
Hail to thee, O Alma Mater!
Mercer, Hail, all hail.

Fight Song: Hail to Mercer
Hail to thee, the best school in the land!
Come all ye loyal sons and daughters,
Ring out the victory song!
United all each foe we'll conquer,
The battle now will not be long!
The Orange and Black is proudly flying,
Like a sign high in the sky!
That leads us on in triumph,
For Mercer we will live and die!
In basketball, we'll place her name ahead of all the
rest!
In scholarship, when put to test, she is the very best!
Hail to thee, Mercer University!
Hail to thee, Mercer University!
Hail to thee, the best school in the land!
Come all ye loyal sons and daughters,
Ring out the victory song!
United all each foe we'll conquer,
The battle now will not be long!
The Orange and Black is proudly flying,
Like a sign high in the sky!
That leads us on in triumph,
For Mercer we will live and die!
RAH!

Mercer University
O! Mercer University
All thy sons will loyal be;
We'll make of thee great Georgia's pride
And love thee as a bonny bride;
We'll fling thy colors to the air
And make them honored everywhere,
For culture, truth and liberty --
Mercer University.
O! Mercer University
All thy sons will live for thee.
Each son will shrine thee in his heart,
Nor ever drift from thee apart;
For sainted sires built thy walls
And consecrated all the halls
And from the skies we hear their calls
Mercer University.
O! Mercer University
All thy sons will die for thee,
For in the springtime of our youth,
We drank from thy fountain of truth
We love thee as our mother, dear
And at thy call will answer "Here";
With all our might we'll do and dare
For Mercer University.

Mercer University
O Mercer dear, with rapt delight,
Thy sons, a thousand strong,
From Rabun Gap to Tybee Light
Thy fame acclaim in song.
The glory of our Mother's face
Effulgent evermore,
Reveals the beauty and the grace
That Mercer Men adore
Thy mission is to Mercerize
The youth who come to thee,
With alkali that beautifies
Their mental crudity.
A greater strength the fibers show
A silken luster gleams;
The human product, they who know
Fulfillment of their dreams.
O Mother dear, thy sons are here
Beneath thy towers tall
Thy name we love with holy fear
We pledge to thee our all.
To thee with joy we give this day
The strength of mind and heart,
Thy gracious law we will obey;
"All good received, impart."

Music: O Mother, Dear, Jerusalem (a.k.a. America, the Beautiful)
Note:The second verse is a play on words. Mercerizing
is a process by which thread is dipped in an alkali solution
to make it stronger and more receptive of dye. During the process
it also becomes silky in luster.

The Mercer Man
In days gone by the floods rose high,
And higher rose it every hour,
But higher still the spire arose,
Old Mercer's storied tower!
For there were men in distant days
And we must all concur, sir
That tho' the years may come and go,
The men are made at Mercer.
Beneath fair Mercer's honored walls
Rich in Life's true ebb and flow,
We learn to wage life's battles stern,
And feel warm friendship's glow,
And though asunder far we roam
Our lives unite in Mercer
Nor space nor time can e'er dissolve
The fellowship of Mercer.
And when a thousand years have flown,
Mercer's glory still will shine,
Still shall the host of Mercer's sons
Pay devotion at her shrine.
Then swell the song both loud and long,
'Til rocks and forest quiver
Long live our Alma Mater dear,
Old Mercer live forever.

Mercer, Mother Dear
Mercer, Mother dear!
Hail to thee we sing;
Loyal sons, we come adoring;
Heaven's blessings now imploring;
Valiant hearts we bring;
Mercer dear, to thee!
Mercer, Mother dear!
We will win the fight;
And altho' the foe be glorious;
We will come to thee victorious;
Guided by thy might;
Mercer, Mother dear!
Alma Mater, dear!
Mercer, still lead on!
For we pledge our loves affection--
Pray for thee God's best protection
'Till our race is done.
Mercer, Mother dear!
